New motor

So there is always a story right. Last night I was at the field flying the new addiction. The plane was flying great and I decided to put on a 12.3.25 EP prop on the front of it. Well if I knew more about electric models than I would have known that you have to check the AMP draw on the ESC and the motor with each prop. ( i did know but never paid attention) Should have because I takeoff and boy she was flying great for 3 mins until the motor melted...yes the copper wires inside the motor melted. So i had a dead stick landing which was no problem with a huge runway here at Kirtland AFB. I go home with a bad motor.

So tonight I headed to the local hobby store and asked for a new motor and ESC to set this plane up right. Well I got a huge motor and a huge ESC, one that you could put on a 40 size gas plane. And this plane weighs less than 2 pounds...so pretty cool. I couldnt do all the work at the hotel to the guys let me do it there and use their tools and such. I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot about the proper setups. Like Kv's to Amps, etc...how different size windings can help or hurt your flight time.

So I get this new motor and ESC on and a new prop and check the system out with a watt meter. It all checks good. I go out and fly at a local field .

Below is the old motor and the new one, big difference.
